What is Children’s Week?
It is is a week-long celebration centred around Universal Children’s Day, a day created by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954 to promote friendship and understanding among children of the world.
Why have Children’s Week?
The aim of the Children’s Week committee is to unite as many existing children’s events into an incredible week of activities for children and their families.
A diverse range of events and activities organised at national, state and local level as part of Children’s Week, will recognise the talents, skills and abilities of children. We encourage the participation of schools, playgroups, childcare centres, kindergartens, cultural groups, libraries, departments and community groups to engage in activities that facilitate and support children and their families to play, learn and grow together.
