Prime Minister Scott Morrison has apologised to the victims/survivors of institutional child sex abuse.
This momentous outcome of the Royal Commission is an important step, but not the end. If anything it is just a beginning. It is the beginning of taking the lessons learned and making real change and protecting children.
Manny Walks (who flew in from Israel especially for the occasion) said:
"They're words and words are important...[however], what's far more important is the implementation. The Government and institutions cannot for a moment think they're absolved of their obligations."
At CarersEd we agree. If they're just words then we've learned nothing. We owe it to generations of children to come to protect them from such harms.
